Using Memoato.

Write a first note, find it again, or connect an AI client. Project context has its own pilot entry point.

Write your first note

Sign in to Memoato. In Cloud mode, open Quick Log, write what happened in your own words, and save it. Memoato saves the original note immediately. Useful structure can appear afterward without making you wait at capture time.

What can I write?

A detail you might want later. A few examples:

  • Lunch at Maru with Sam. Order the miso aubergine again.
  • 89.8 kg
  • Pull ups 2 2 3
  • Bought car battery, 59 EUR, two year warranty

What happens to the raw note?

It stays intact. Memoato may derive categories, values, timestamps, and context from it, but the original source is preserved. Derived entries remain linked to the raw log so later corrections update the meaning without duplicating what you wrote.

Find a memory again

In Cloud mode, open Recall and ask about a detail you saved. For example, after the lunch note above: What did I want to order again at Maru? Read the answer alongside its source note. If the evidence is missing or an interpretation is wrong, return to the note rather than treating the answer as certain.

With an AI client, a key needs Recall only or Log and recall access. See MCP setup.

What are categories?

Categories are useful views and metrics — Weight, Pull ups, Football, Energy, Notes, and anything personal to you. They are no longer the only way to begin a log. You can write naturally and let Memoato match existing categories, or open a category directly when you already know exactly what you want to add.

How does the Timeline work?

Timeline gives you a day-by-day view of what happened. It groups related entries, keeps notes readable, and lets you move backward through your history without opening every category individually.

Can I edit, delete, or reorder things?

Yes. Category history supports editing and deletion. Home categories can be reordered from Edit mode. Your profile also includes data export and account deletion controls.

Privacy modes

  • Cloud sync — the simplest multi-device experience.
  • Encrypted cloud — category titles and notes are encrypted on your device before saving.
  • Local-only — data stays in the browser on that device.

Open Profile → Privacy to review or switch modes. Read how the modes differ before switching: local-only mode deletes your account’s server data. The natural-language cloud memory and MCP flow are separate from encrypted and local category logging.

Connect an AI client through MCP

Use Cloud mode and a client that supports remote MCP with bearer authentication. Support depends on the client and its plan; an ordinary chat window does not automatically connect to Memoato.

  1. Sign in to Memoato → Profile → API keys. Name the key for your client.
  2. Choose Logging only, Recall only, or Log and recall. Use the smallest access you need. Context packets only is for an already configured Context pilot workspace.
  3. Create the key and copy it once. Add https://api.memoato.com/mcp as a remote MCP server in your client, with Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY. Replace the placeholder with your key in the client’s private connection settings.
  4. Check the connection by asking the client to list its available Memoato tools. Only tools allowed by the key’s scope should appear. Review any proposed write before approving it.

You can set an expiry or revoke the key from Profile. Do not paste it into a conversation or public configuration. The client and its AI provider can see the data you ask them to handle; read how cloud memory and AI processing work.

Project context is a separate, single-owner pilot with read-only GitHub and Linear sources. It is not an open team signup. Ask about a Context pilot.
