Memoato is released under the MIT license. You can inspect, modify, and self-host the code, subject to its license and third-party dependencies.
What is in the repository?
- Personal memory — raw note capture, extraction, review, recall, categories, and timeline.
- Context pilot — read-only GitHub and Linear sources, source versions, human claim review, and access and freshness checks.
- API and MCP — scoped keys for logging, recall, and context packets.
The hosted Context pilot is limited to one owner per workspace. Open code does not mean open team signup.
Run your own instance
Start with the repository README and development setup. Self-hosting means operating the application and database, configuring providers, and maintaining backups and updates.
Choose your storage mode and AI processing setup deliberately. Self-hosting alone does not stop a configured AI provider from receiving data. See the storage and AI processing explanation.
Contribute from real use
Report a reproducible issue, suggest a clearer flow, or propose a code change. Keep private notes, source documents, and API keys out of public issues.
